PhD Student for Project SIMON (m/f/d)

Job Description

In the mFUND-funded SIMON project, we offer an open position as a research assistant with the option of a PhD in the field of V2X communication for vulnerable road users. The aim of the project is the integration of V2X technology in e-bikes. This includes the simulation and validation of new approaches for communication  between vehicles, infrastructure and other road users. A user-centered display of recommended actions is intended to improve traffic flow and increase road safety. Resources are to be optimized for this purpose and integrated into the smart environment for collective perception. As part of this activity, prototypes are being developed and evaluated in the Karlsruhe real-world laboratory.

Your Profile

The candidate should possess an Msc degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or any related discipline. The ideal candidate should have knowledge and experience in one or more of the following topics:

  • Vehicle-to-everything communication
  • Simulation Environments (SUMO, Artery)
  • Data analysis
  • Hands-on experience with electrical components
  • Theoretical knowledge of Automated Driving Systems

An initial contract will be offered for 1 year with the possibility of extension up to 5 years.
