PhD Students for the requirements of future networked and automated mobility (m/f/d)

Description

The newly founded research group Cooperative Autonomous Systems at the Institute AIFB has a new position for PhD students. As part of the CulturalRoad project funded by the Horizon Europe Program (HORIZON-CL5-2023-D6-01-04), you will research the ideas and expectations of citizens in the Karlsruhe region regarding future networked and automated mobility. Using virtual reality simulations and experiments in the Karlsruhe real-world laboratory, you will explore the cultural differences to other EU countries in coordination with research and industry partners and create a model of future mobility for the Karlsruhe region. Supported by your supervisor, you will publish and present your results in an international environment and will be actively involved in teaching and supervising final theses. In addition to your involvement in science administration, you will continuously write your dissertation and build up your own competence and science portfolio. 

Personal Qualifications
  • Master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, economics, human-computer interaction or similar, 
  • Interest in working with a virtual environment and real-world laboratory research, 
  • a strong interest in working in an interdisciplinary environment, 
  • a strong drive for excellence in science and technology at the highest international level is expected, 
  • communication skills and open-mindedness, 
  • good knowledge of German or a willingness to learn it, 
  • good knowledge of the English language.

PhD students will receive an internationally competitive salary and benefits according to the TV-L E13 scale. An initial contract will be offered for 1 year with the possibility of extension up to 4 years.
